Ditmas Park

Ditmas Park

Roughly bounded by Beverly Road to the north, Foster Avenue to the south, Ocean Avenue to the east and Coney Island Avenue to the west, Ditmas Park, a designated Historic District that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Ditmas Park is filled with gorgeous Victorian houses once owned by bold-face individuals, including Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks and well-to-do families like the Guggenheims.

Cortelyou Road is the major shopping street, with a greenmarket that's held every Sunday and Newkirk Plaza, an open-air mall. Restaurants, bars and live music venues are plentiful on Cortelyou Road.

Housing Stock: Large turn-of-the-century Victorian houses, Colonial and Tudor houses, a few Swiss Chalets and co-ops.
