Red Hook

Red Hook has been transformed from a home to longshoremen and other working class New Yorkers to a place where artists writers and creative types now reside t in converted warehouses and row houses with great views of the bay and the New York City skyline. Luxury complexes are now beginning their second phase and Columbia Street is looking more like the ever popular Smith Street every day.

Water taxi service speeds NYC commuters into the Financial District and into Midtown Manhattan. The plans for IKEA and a new cruise ship terminal have energized this neighborhood.
