Aaron Lefkowitz has been involved in real estate since 1996 . His real estate knowledge, work ethic and personality quickly made him his firm’s top rental agent. In 2001, Aaron left rentals and joined Avalon Bay Communities on their first NYC development, Riverview Apartments. As an on site leasing agent at Riverview, Aaron’s team exceeded all lease up expectations in record time, and won the Avalon Bay Customer Service award having bested over 160 other Communities.
In 2002, Aaron left Avalon Bay and went to the prestigious Shack Institute at NYU for his Masters in Real Estate Finance. At NYU, Aaron maintained over a 3.8 gpa, was a Vice President of RESA (student association) and founded the NYU Real Estate Entrepreneurs and Investors Group. The group was formed to bring like-minded individuals together to network amongst each other and to network with smaller developers in the NYC community. The group held weekly meetings amongst the students and brought in 2-3 speakers a month. The group is a thriving organization today and grew so large, that it had to be divided into 5 separate sub groups.
After NYU, Aaron moved to Nashville TN, where he worked on smaller developments, rehabs and repositioning of smaller properties. In Nashville, Aaron also opened up a restaurant and music venue called, “The Listening Room Café” where the best songwriters in the world would play to an intimate audience ‘in the round’. Aaron stayed in the south for 4+ years having enjoyed his experiences in Nashville greatly.
After Nashville, Aaron moved back to NYC where he obtained his property and casualty license and worked for Brown and Brown, Inc. the nations 6th largest insurance broker. There Aaron concentrated on Real Estate related insurance. Insuring owners, developers, and construction companies. At Brown and Brown, Inc. Aaron obtained his CRIS (Construction Risk Insurance Specialist) and AAI (Accredited Advisor of Insurance) designations.
Aaron also joined the YJP social group (Young Jewish Professionals) where he formed the YJP Real Estate Division. Similar to the NYU group, Aaron formed the group for like-minded Jewish real estate professionals to network, mingle with each other and with speakers within the NYC real estate community. The group is a huge success and has over 500 members. The group was such a success for YJP that they mirrored the Real Estate Division, and have now formed 5 other groups.
Aaron brings a positive attitude and warm personality to every transaction and every meeting. He believes strongly in networking and putting people together for deals and for friendship. He constantly is involved and forms his own impromptu networking events and loves to surround himself with positive people with positive attitudes.
Aaron went to the University of Wisconsin Undergraduate School of Business and loves living in the Village of NYC where he h as maintained the same apartment for the last 12 years. Prior to that, he has lived on the Upper East Side, Upper West side and Hells Kitchen. Because of his diverse background and skill set and strong creative work ethic, he was invited to join the Elaine Clayman Group at Brown Harris Stevens.
