Shirley Mueller has been involved in real estate sales for almost two decades. Her background as an attorney enables her to assist clients in a unique way throughout the process of negotiating the purchase or sale of property in New York. Shirley’s educational and professional experience, coupled with her passion for real estate, are the perfect combination for buyers or sellers to employ in their property search and deal-making process.

Shirley has been honored twice as “Broker of the Year” in the Tribeca office - a distinction given for having highest sales volume. She has successfully negotiated deals in many of Manhattan’s most exclusive condominiums and cooperatives on behalf of clientele demanding strength in service, loyalty, and experience. Her professionalism has earned her the respect of her colleagues and clients and created a strong referral-based business that includes former clients, law firms, industry and social leaders, business managers and entertainment figures, leading her to complete some of the most prestigious deals in her office.

Prior to joining Brown Harris Stevens, Shirley was a founding partner of “Uncommon Properties,” a residential marketing firm specializing in notable high-end properties. Her interest and passion for real estate began years before when she worked with an international law firm on real estate partnerships and development. Shirley loves the “art of matching the client to the right property” and navigating the intricacies of negotiating and deal making.” She is known for her tenacity and her colleagues have said she makes the most “difficult” deals work for clients.

Shirley possesses a fluent understanding of the residential market: from new developments to townhouses in Tribeca and the Upper East Side, to a penthouse on Central Park West or a Fifth Avenue townhouse. She represented the owners of The Duke-Semans Mansion, the prestigious Beaux-Arts masterpiece on Fifth Avenue. This landmark property sold for $40 million in 2006 and resold in 2010 for $44 million and was featured on the front page of The New York Times, Fortune.com, CNN, Haute Living, International Herald Tribune and a variety of other international publications. In addition to these publications, her deals have been featured in The Real Deal, New York Post, The New York Observer, Financial Times, etc.

A graduate of UC Berkeley with Honors in Philosophy and a Juris Doctor from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City, Shirley is an active member of the Real Estate Board of New York, New York State Bar Association and The Association of the Bar of the City of New York. She is listed in “Who’s Who of American Women,” and “Who’s Who In America.” She is Managing Director of Golden Seeds, a member of the Women’s Forum of New York and the International Women’s Forum. Shirley has always been active in philanthropy throughout her years in New York City. She was one of the founding members of the Children’s Air Center at New York Hospital, raised tuition funds for students in need of scholarship aid and currently serves as a Board member of the American Symphony Orchestra. Having raised three children in New York City, she now enjoys more time in the Berkshires with her husband and family. She now works with the local Land Trust and community organizations in support of the arts in and near their home in Alford, Massachusetts.
