With the end of summer approaching, now is as good a time as ever to get out and about in the picturesque town of Greenwich, Connecticut. Known for its classic New England beauty—complete with forests, lakes, and charming colonial-style downtown areas—the area is also popular for its recreational offerings, particularly during the warmer months.

To ensure you make the most of summertime in Greenwich, here are five outdoor activities you can enjoy today!

1. Spend a Day at the Beach

Also known as Greenwich Point Park, Tod's Point is an excellent place to walk, bike, run, roller blade or just sit by the water with a good book, Tods’ Point comprises over 140 acres of natural beauty. The beach and park is beautiful at any time of day. There are even areas for grilling and clam baking, so it's a great place to throw a party or gathering.

2. Go Paddle Boarding or Kayaking

I’m fortunate to own my paddle board and kayak, as do many of us here in coastal Connecticut! I love to take them out in Greenwich Cove. It is the ultimate in summer activities. If you do not own your own equipment, look into renting from Greenwich Community Sailing. You can rent your board or kayak for as little as one hour or as long as a day. The facility offers lessons as well!

3. Play PickleBall

I started playing this game during the pandemic, and I can safely say I am obsessed! The sport has grown in popularity over the last few years across several age demographics, to the point that the town of Greenwich has added the lines to the tennis courts at many parks.

You can also borrow nets from Byram Shore Park and Western Middle School.

4. Watch a Greenwich Polo Match

The Greenwich Polo Club hosts public polo matches every Sunday and showcases the talents of players from around the world. There are many options for viewing. You can either reserve lawn space and set up your own picnic blankets, reserve seats in the stands, purchase a skybox, or rent an outdoor cabana. There are catering services available for whichever option you pick.

5. Attend an Outdoor Concert

I love attending free concerts at Roger Sherman Park, and there are plenty throughout the summer. Each is free to the public and very family friendly. Bring your own lawn chairs, picnic and listen to music and dance the night away. The setting is beautiful and hopefully there will be a breeze from the water. There are also concerts at Tods Point and Binney Park, and even lunchtime concerts on Greenwich Avenue!
