Harlem has long been known as a neighborhood of diversity, culture, and historical significance. As Black History Month continues, it is important to highlight notable Black figures that have made an undeniable impact. Named in honor of African American war hero Dorrance Brooks, the streets between West 136th and 140th are dedicated to the celebration of Brooks’ patriotism and contributions to civil rights in the United States. In the video below, Brown Harris Steves Agent Ivonne Velasquez walks through this notable stretch in Harlem, discussing its history and cultural significance.
