With the continual celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, which honors the achievements and contributions of Hispanic-Americans, there is no better time to highlight some of the best hispanic and latinx-owned eateries across New York City. Here is a curated list of popular restaurants that are worth adding to your list of must-visits.

BalvaneraLower East Side, Manhattan

Owned by Argentine Chef Fernando Navas, Balvanera offers a delicious selection of cusine, infused with the culture of Buenos Aires. With an expansive menu, composed of traditional small plates and family-style platos, this restaurant is a must-try.

Casa Orca - Williamsburg, Brooklyn

This neighborhood hotspot, operated by Ivo Diaz, taps into Diaz's Venezuelan roots. With his own mother as Casa Orca's executive chef, the menu is fulled with dishes inspired by her homecooking.

During Hispanic Heritage Month, the restaurant will also offer their "Abuelita's Tasting Menu", which is a 6-couse prix fixe menu. For $65 per person, expect to eat several tastey plates, including an heirloom tomato salad and beef brisket.

Fresco's Cantina - Long Island City, Queens

Known for their crowd-favorite chicken tacos, Frescos's Cantina is a Mexican restaurant with modern spins on classic go-to dishes. This Latinx-owned restaurant is operated by Brian Martinez and Adrian Suero. We recommend starting off your meal with the delcious michoacan guacamole, which can serve up to 4.

Casa Adela - Alphabet City, Manhattan

Serving the neighborhood for over 4 decades, this Puerto Rican eatery is famous for their signature homestyle fare. Founded by Adela Fargas in 1976, Casa Adela's menu is filled with familiar favorites like fried crushed plantains and chicharron de pollo, with each dish paired with rice and beans.

Caridad - Westchester Square, the Bronx

This popular latinx restaurant, open for 20 years, is known for its family-friendly atmosphere and homestyle menu offerings. As noted on their website, their dishes "taste like abuela used to make them," and with plates like pollo guisado, bistec encebollado, and platano quesadilla de res, it's clear that this menu does not dissapoint.

Tacoria - Hoboken & Montclair, NJ

With multiple locations across the tri-state area, Tacoria is a well-known community favorite for mulitple reasons. From their tride-and-true menu staples, like the mission-style burrito and hand crafted tacos, to their delicious viva la nachos, there's plenty to enjoy. The Tacoria locations in Hoboken and Montclair have outdoor dog-friendly seating, and vegan/gluten-free mennu options.

El Segundo - Norwalk, CT

This popular eatery in Fairfield County, Connecticut, blends two original mediums: global street food, the original "fast food" and graffiti, as it is noted on their website. This makes El Segundo unique for its laidback and ecclectic atmosphere, with an impressive menu. With a brunch, dinner, and catering menu, they are a must-visit eatery.

Geronimo Tequila Bar & Southwest GrillFairfield, CT

This southwestern style Mexican Restaurant, loacted in Fairfield (as well as New Haven), has plenty to offer: Taco Tuesdays, Half Priced Tequil Sundays, and Industry Night Mondays. We recommend their blistered shishito peppers and popular navajo frybread.
