Often, when buyers are moving to the Greenwich area, they have questions about joining a country club, usually surrounding the question of whether they will be able to play tennis and/or golf. However, Greenwich offers a few different options to those that wish to participate in fun activities. With its public town facilities, residents can enjoy golfing, utilizing public tennis courts, and given its rise in popularity, several different pickleball courts in the area.

Before I talk more about the many public pickleball courts, located in Greenwich, there are several public golf courses to play on. Many of my friends frequently play on the Griffith Harris public course on King St (known as “the Griff”). There are more options in neighboring towns as well.

As for tennis and pickleball, the options are numerous. For the most part, if you can play tennis at the courts, then you can play pickleball there too. Since the pandemic, pickleball popularity has grown tremendously. Greenwich has recognized this and offers lessons, as well as clinics for more experienced players. The area's civic centers and parks are now equipped with lines and nets specifically for the game, with opportunities to reserve court time on the website. It can get crowded on the courts, so a reservation will ensure you have a court to play on when you arrive.

Loughlin Avenue Park in Cos Cob is the largest and arguably the most popular in the area, and it is where all town-sponsored programs are held.

Here are three additional public pickleball courts, in and around Greenwich, to play at:

  1. Christiano Park Pickleball Courts (Greenwich)

  2. Eastern Greenwich Civic Center Outdoor Courts (Old Greenwich, CT)

  3. Byram Shore Park Pickleball Courts (Byram, CT)

That's it for now, I’m off to the courts!
