Brown Harris Stevens | Established 1837

Broadly bordered by the East River, Newton Creek, the BQE and McCarren Park (which it shares with Williamsburg), Greenpoint is Brooklyn's northernmost neighborhood. A waterfront community, the Greenpoint Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and filled well over 325 buildings (including red brick or limestone brownstones, row houses, walk-ups, factories, churches and banks) constructed between 1850 and 1900.

Along the neighborhood streets, you'll find a great selection of art galleries, yoga studios, cafes, small shops and good restaurants, especially on Nassau Avenue. The 35-acre McCarren Park and its famous Olympic-size pool, field house and play center, dozens of ball fields, tennis courts, a 7,200-square-foot ice-skating rink, running tracks, a picnic area, a playground and fitness facility is this community's centerpiece.

Fun Fact: Bawdy actress Mae West was born and raised in Greenpoint.

Housing Stock: Row houses, single-family houses, multi-family wood-frame townhouses, renovated tenement buildings, new condo and rental high-rise developments and factory conversions with large lofts.
