1st Prize Winner: Real Estate Board of New York — Deal of the Year Award

When a broker’s achievements exceed his seller’s expectations, the word spreads quickly. Dan Danielli has blazed an impressive trail through Manhattan’s luxury homes market. Having closed nearly a half-billion dollars’ worth of residential sales during his career, Mr. Danielli came to Brown Harris Stevens (then Halstead) after having been a top-producing broker at three premier Manhattan real estate firms. Within three months of joining, he sold a Park Avenue townhouse, and was appointed to the firm’s Platinum Circle and Producers Council.

Having recently closed a $10.5M deal at 147 Waverly place, and with 25 years’ experience in the Manhattan real estate market under his belt, Mr. Danielli has sold a Greenwich Village hotel, several townhouses in all major neighborhoods, and has brokered numerous seven-figure deals for such premier condominiums as: Olympic Tower, Apthorp, Ariel, Sheffield, Park Imperial, Metropolitan Tower, CitySpire, Promenade, Park Millennium, Century, Oxford, Mondrian, Alfred, One Lincoln Square, Two Columbus, 100 United Nations Plaza, Impala, Kingsley, and Saratoga. He is also trusted in the co-op market, selling exceptional properties on Fifth Avenue, Park Avenue, Central Park West, Riverside Drive, Carnegie Hill, and downtown in the Village, Tribeca, and the Financial District. His recent sales include some of Manhattan’s most prestigious residences, including Hotel des Artistes, Grand Millennium, Trump Parc, Gotham, Park Laurel, Belaire, Copley, Trafalgar House, Trump Place, Ansonia, Morad Beekman, Alwyn Court, Excelsior, Sofia, Evans Tower, Riverside Tower, Colonnade, and Allegro.

Many celebrities, particularly from the classical music world, have sold (or purchased) properties through Mr. Danielli, including tenor Placido Domingo; concert pianists Evgeny Kissin, Yuja Wang, and Alicia de Larrocha; violinists Pinchas Zukerman and Kyung-Wha Chung; cellist Mstislav Rostropovich; Grammy-winning guitarist Sharon Isbin; and Roger Waters (Pink Floyd). Other notable clients include film actress Tuesday Weld, ABC News analyst George Stephanopoulos, painter Peter Max, Microsoft (Japan) President Kazuhiko Nishi, Barnes & Noble President Michael Berry, AQR Capital Management hedge fund king Clifford Asness, Metropolitan Opera General Manager Peter Gelb, and entrepreneur Nicola Bulgari.

Numerous articles on Mr. Danielli’s sales achievements have appeared in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, New York Post, Newsday, Daily News, The Real Deal, and New York Observer. Additionally, he appeared with Donald Trump on “Le Point,” a Canadian television program that showcased Mr. Danielli’s Central Park South properties. In 2003, when New York State’s Supreme Court of Appeals protected a co-op board’s right to evict a shareholder without judicial review, Mr. Danielli was appointed exclusive broker to sell what thus became 2003’s most famous Manhattan real estate listing.

An accomplished pianist who performed internationally broadcasted concerts with the Boston Pops Orchestra, Dan Danielli holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Boston University, a Doctorate from Manhattan School of Music, and diplomas from New York University; Academia Chigiana in Siena, Italy; and Institut de Francais in Villefranche-sur-Mer, France. Prior to real estate, he was a high-profile executive at CBS Records and RCA-BMG Music, where he guided the recording careers of such artists as Andre Previn, Zubin Mehta, Seiji Ozawa, Isaac Stern, Sir Colin Davis, Sir James Galway, Yo-Yo Ma, Murray Perahia, Evgeny Kissin, Alicia de Larrocha, Jessye Norman, Marilyn Horne, Cleo Laine, The Chieftains, and such orchestras as St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Moscow Virtuosi, Philadelphia Orchestra, Boston Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, and London Symphony. He also served as music consultant for Barbra Streisand’s film “The Prince of Tides.” He has served as an Artistic Advisor for the annual International Keyboard Institute at Hunter College, and is a benefactor/volunteer for various food pantries and homeless youth shelters in Manhattan. He continues to give piano performances for charitable events, enjoys world travel, writes articles for music journals, serves as an executive producer for historic recordings, and pursues his passion for the French language.
