Park Slope has set a new benchmark in Brooklyn real estate. A meticulously renovated British Regency–style limestone townhouse, located at 535 1st Street, recently sold for $13.9 million, making it the most expensive single-family home ever sold in the neighborhood.
Brown Harris Stevens’ Juliana Frei represented the buyer.
The five-story townhouse was originally built in the early 1900s and was purchased in 2017 for approximately $5.975 million. Over the course of four years, the sellers carried out an ambitious transformation, blending historic architecture with modern sophistication.
The renovation introduced double-height ceilings, a dramatic sculptural staircase, movable floor-to-ceiling walls, two roof terraces, and a landscaped garden.
Initially listed for $18 million in 2024, the property ultimately closed at $13.9 million—a record price for Park Slope that surpasses the previous high of $12.6 million set in 2017.
In Brownstone Brooklyn—which includes Park Slope and surrounding neighborhoods—overall home sales have risen about 25% year-over-year in the second quarter. At the same time, the median price for single-family homes in the area has dipped by roughly 12.2%, to around $2.995 million, according to The Wall Street Journal.
