In Honor of Pride: Listings Near a Landmark of Change

By Liat Salama

The Pride Parade is this weekend. At its core, Pride is about the right to exist without fear. To be who you are. To love who you love. To live openly—without having to hide or apologize for it. That right wasn’t given. It was fought for. On June 28, 1969, police raided the Stonewall Inn in the West Village. It wasn’t the first time. But that night, people had had enough. They stood their ground, and it lit the spark for what became the LGBTQ+ rights movement. It started here in New York, and the fight continues.

We’re highlighting a few homes near that stretch of the West Village—not just because of where they are, but in honor of where it all began, and the people who made it happen—and keep making it happen today.
