Op-Ed: Manhattan is Doing Just Fine

Have you heard that people are fleeing Manhattan? The headlines say it over and over, but the reality tells a very different story. In my latest commentary for RISMedia, I look at what the data and our daily experience in the market actually show: no mass exodus, no panic selling, and an underlying strength that too many are overlooking.

In October, more than 1,050 contracts were signed in Manhattan – the most for that month since 2021 – reflecting a 39 % jump from September and a 5 % increase year-over-year. The luxury segment (homes over $4 million) led the way, with an 82 % uptick month-to-month and 21 % year-over-year growth.

These numbers show that sometimes, a flashy clickbait narrative is just noise. New York is far from over.
