THE STREET

In the tradition of architectural brilliance - The Lotos Club at 5 East 66th Street by Richard Howland Hunt for Margaret Vanderbilt, and one New York's grandest facades at 45 East 66th Street by Harde and Short - stands The Arthur Sachs Mansion at 58 East 66th Street, a modern incarnation of the exquisite features exemplified in these remarkable buildings of the past.

THE MANSION

With a superb limestone facade in the Beaux-Arts style, this mansion was originally erected for Alice and Arthur Sachs in 1908-9 by Buchman and Fox, the architects of the Gilded Age beauty at 5 East 73rd Street and enduring monuments such as Saks and Altmans. It faces 57 East 66th Street, the long-time residence of Andy Warhol from 1974 to 1987, designated a landmark in 1998 in celebration of Warhol's seventieth birthday.

THE MODERN RESIDENCE

From the ground floor entry hall of this approximately 9600sf townhouse, there are direct views to the stair hall, kitchen, and terrace beyond, creating an immediate green sightline. A second entry west of the front door leads to a mudroom, vestibule, and elevator. The center foyer includes a fireplace and windowed powder room.
