The Ironclad Artists' Lofts at 138 Grand Street was built in 1869. The building was designed by architect William Field & Son for clothing manufacturer Charles Hastings. There are 17 large-scale lofts throughout the building and two elevators that service the building, including one fully automatic, oversized lift that was modernized last year.
