Ms. Turkus, who joined Brown Harris Stevens as a Director in January 1996, specializes in very large upscale apartments and townhouses along Fifth Avenue's Museum Mile.

Herself a former board member and treasurer of the co-op building that has been her home for many years, Ms. Turkus went into real estate in 1984 after completing real estate studies at Marymount College, and in 1991 joined Jean-Marc Levet & Partners, and subsequently moved to BHS following its acquisition of the Levet firm.

Very active in charity work-the American Parkinson's Disease Foundation named her 1977 Woman of the Year-she's been involved for twelve years with The Troupers, which raises money for the children of indigent show business families. She has served on the National Advisory Committee of the Actors Youth Fund, headed by Joey Adamsworked with the City of Hope and Meals on Wheels, as well as Variety Club and the charity for Tay Sachs Disease. She was recently cited by Avenue Magazine's Who's Who in Manhattan Real Estate. Before entering real estate, Ms. Turkus was a radio and television actress and writer. She is a highly esteemed member of the Friars Club and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, sponsor of the "Emmy" awards. Her husband, now deceased, was Burton B. Turkus, the former Assistant District Attorney. She lives on Fifth Avenue, devotes her time to charity and the arts as well as to visits to her son who lives in upstate New York.
