Karen Lind joined Brown Harris Stevens with twenty years of experience in various aspects of the real estate industry. She began her career as a lawyer, first with a Wall Street law firm and then in the legal department of a major financial institution. Eventually she moved from the legal department to the corporate real estate department of a large commercial bank where she was responsible for site selection and the negotiation and implementation of economic development incentives valued at $200 million.
Karen has been a devoted Manhattan resident since she and her husband moved to a rental on the Upper West Side in the 1970’s to attend Fordham Law School. Several years later, they bought their first coop in the same neighborhood, a transaction that marked the beginning of Karen’s keen interest in the residential real estate business. Over the years, as her family was expanding and their needs were changing, Karen negotiated additional purchases and sales of coop apartments, vacation properties, and investment properties. She joined Brown Harris Stevens to devote full time to her passion for real estate.
Karen thrives on the challenge of “matching the customer to the right property.” Having raised two daughters in the city, she understands how important it is to live in a home that fits the customer’s needs. Her interest and experience in coop renovations can help her customers visualize how to make an apartment reflect their sense of style. Finally, her background as an attorney enables her to assist customers in the often difficult process of negotiating the purchase and sale of property.
Karen is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York and serves on the Board of Directors of her cooperative apartment building. In her leisure time, she enjoys racing her Herreshoff 12 sailboat or playing golf on Shelter Island where she has a home. She is actively involved in the Cornell University Women’s Alumnae Network and the Shelter Island Historical Society.
