Following His Showstopping Gala Design, Robert Lohman’s Paintings Shine in Sag Harbor

Few artists capture the quiet beauty of the East End quite like Brown Harris Stevens’ Robert Lohman. A Southampton-based artist and interior designer, Lohman is known for his expansive blue skies, tranquil waters, and luminous landscapes that draw inspiration from the ever-changing light and atmosphere of the Hamptons.

Now on view at Sag Harbor’s Romany Kramoris Gallery, seven of Lohman’s works invite visitors to experience his signature vision—one that blends serene coastal scenery with a timeless sense of place. Influenced by masters including J.M.W. Turner, Thomas Cole, and Mark Rothko, Lohman’s paintings feel both contemporary and timeless.

“Living near the beach I’m aware of how close the water is and how the world of vapor mixed with light can blur the line between earth and sky. Water can be soft and clouds can have structure. The glow in the vicinity of having water on two or three sides is magical.” – Robert Lohman

Lohman’s artistic perspective extends well beyond the canvas. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design with a background in interior architecture, he has spent decades working at the intersection of art, design, and interiors, curating collections and creating public art and design projects throughout the Hamptons.

Last month, he brought that same creative eye to the Southampton Fresh Air Home’s 34th Annual Decorators-Designers-Dealers Sale and Auction Benefit Gala, where he served as Design and Decoration Vice Chairman. There, he transformed the fundraiser into an immersive experience with thoughtfully curated themed rooms, from an Americana-inspired collection of antique furnishings to French Country, porch, and glamorous mirrored interiors—all designed to showcase donated pieces in fresh and inspiring ways.

Lohman’s paintings remain on view at Romany Kramoris Gallery, offering visitors the opportunity to experience the distinctive artistic vision that has made him a respected figure in both the Hamptons art and design communities.
