Hispanic and Latino-Owned Businesses to Support Across NYC

New York City is home to countless Hispanic and Latinx-owned businesses, all of which add to the diverse cultural landscape of the city. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we’ve curated a list of popular businesses throughout the city that you can support, from small bookstores, to speciality shops.

Anima Mundi – Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Owned by Costa Rican herbalist, Adriana Ayales, Anima Mundi is a small shop located in Greenpoint, and  offers a wide array of herbal products sourced from around the world. This shop also hosts a number of wellness activities to participate in such as meditation sessions, herbal consultations, DIY courses, and a tonic bar.

Cafe con Libros – Crown Heights, Brooklyn

Cafe con Libros in Crown Heights is a bookstore that fuses literature, coffee, and a strong sense of community. The bookstore is owned by Kalima DeSuze, an Afro-Panamanian and Lantinx social activist, veteran, and fellow lover of literature.

Coco & Breezy – Chelsea, Manhattan

Founded in 2009 by sisters Corianna and Brianna Dotson, this trendy boutique specializes in designer sunglasses and eyeglass frames, offering a wide range of chic designs for shoppers. 

Mil Mundos – Bushwick, Brooklyn

This popular bookstore, founded by Maria Herron, is located in Bushwick and holds a large selection of books– 50% of which are in Spanish. Herron has noted that carrying such a large  multi-lingual selection helps to support Bushwicks diverse cultural landscape.

The Lit Bar – Mott Haven, the Bronx

This Mott Haven community staple is much more than a small bookstore, it doubles as a fun wine bar. Opened by Noelle Santos in 2019, the Lit Bar serves as a popular space for both book lovers and wine connoisseurs to mingle.
