The Hamptons are known for endless beaches, quaint historic villages, farm stands, and of course, natural light. The famous "Hamptons light" has become a legend among artists and visionaries. As such, it should come as no surprise the East End has served as a backdrop for many impactful films, including one created by Brown Harris Stevens Agent Michael Dougherty.

"The Hamptons is where I was born and raised, and the film is shot entirely there. Available on Amazon Prime, "Love & Everything in Between" encapsulates the beauty and majesties of the East End. The destination is so prominent that I consider it a character within my film. From Montauk to the beaches I grew up surfing and having bonfires on, to deeply personal memories, I drew upon all of these for the film's storyline.” -- Michael Dougherty

Here are some other iconic films that have showcased the beauty of various locations throughout the Hamptons:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
A large plot point of this notable Jim Carrey feature is in fact Montauk, providing the scene for the film's famous beach shot. A private oceanfront estate in Wainscott was also featured in the film.

Deathtrap (1982)
The Hamptons served as a backdrop for this murder mystery thriller, adapted from the hit Broadway show that ran over 10 years. Scenes included the East Hampton and Montauk Train Stations, and a private estate in Water Mill.

Annie Hall (1977)
The Oscar-winning film, starring Diane Keaton, featured a scene shot in Napeague complete with a live lobster escaping its pot.

The Bonfire of the Vanities  (1990)
Written by Tom Wolfe, a Southampton Resident, some scenes followed characters to a private oceanfront home on the East End.

Masquerade (1988)
This romantic thriller, starring Rob Lowe, features scenes shot on Lee Avenue in East Hampton and in Shelter Island. The characters also famously blew up a yacht in the bay in Montauk Harbor

Deep Impact (1998)
Produced by Steven Spielberg, the Hamptons was featured in several scenes. Shot in Amagansett, (spoiler alert) crowds watched the incoming comet crash into the ocean, creating a tidal wave of massive proportions.

No Hard Feelings (2023)
Released this past year, the blockbuster film starring Jennifer Lawrence takes place in Montauk, highlighting the major divide between locals and out-of-towners in comedic fashion.

While these films are just a few that have been shot in the Hamptons, we are certain the stunning backdrop and famous light will continue to attract artists for years to come.
