Neighborhood Stories

Our neighborhood version of Cheers is Hilife Bar and Grill on the corner of 83rd Street and Amsterdam. You'll recognize it by the vintage 1937 Lincoln Zephyr, adorned with the Hi-Life Neon Martini sign perched on its roof, parked right out front. This long time UWS staple offers a menu featuring a wide variety of comfort food and even a small sushi bar to boot. The weathered, art deco bar and cozy booths indoors in the winter, and the perfect outdoor corner seating for warm weather people (and dog!) watching, make it our favorite neighborhood happy-hour go-to!

Living on the Upper West Side means having a perfect balance of city energy and peaceful retreats. For me, one of the most calming spots is the fountain behind the Rose Planetarium. It's a hidden gem, offering a quiet moment of serenity amidst the constant rhythm of the city. Whether you're taking a break from a busy day or enjoying a peaceful walk, it’s a reminder of the beauty that surrounds this vibrant neighborhood

The upper west side is a truly special neighborhood. There is all types of architecture- prewar, postwar, new construction. Super talls are rare, providing a lot of light and air on the ground. No matter where you live, you are always close to either Central Park and Riverside park, as the upper west side is narrow. Once considered not a great restaurant neighborhood, we now have a plethora of amazing restaurants- all types of cuisines and levels of formality and prices. The upper west side also has a great selection of unique boutiques and high end stores as well as the best selection of gourmet food stores. Lastly, no matter where you live you are always close to a good subway line- either broadway or central park west. And let's not forget- no coops with summer work rules!
