Al was born in Park Slope, Brooklyn. He earned his B.S in Accounting at Long Island University and his M.B.A in Corporate Financial Management at Pace University. He had worked for insurance brokerage firms including Marsh McLennan, American International Underwriters and C&P International Ltd as accountant, senior accountant, General Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller and eventually Controller, before joining Halstead Property Company in 1990.
A father and a grandfather, he lives in Forest Hills where Al is the owner of a cooperative apartment.
